Windows 7: Click on the Windows Logo (Start Button) and choose “Control Panel.” Open the “Network & Sharing Center.” Click on “Connect to a Network.” Connect to the wireless network “BWHumboldtHouseInn.” Open your internet browser and the hotel’s login page should load. Follow the on-screen instructions to access the internet.

Some rooms are hard-wired with Ethernet. For in-room hard-wired connections you will need a computer equipped with standard Internet Browser Software, an Ethernet LAN Port, and a Network Cable (RJ45). Cables are available at the Front Desk with a $50 Deposit.

For your convenience we have a coin-operated Laundromat across from Room 209. Hours of operation are from 8am to 10pm. Do not leave items unattended. A coin-operated soap dispenser is located in the Laundromat, and change is available at the Front Desk.

Items can be recovered between the hours of 8am and 3pm. The Best Western Plus Humboldt House Inn will hold items in the Lost & Found for 90 (ninety) days, after which the hotel cannot be held responsible.

Pets

We allow pets in specified rooms with a nonrefundable fee. Please contact the Front Desk for information. The pet exercise area is across from Rooms 226 and 227.

Safety & Security

Traveler Safety

  • Do not admit anyone into your room without first verifying his or her identity. If you are unsure of someone claiming to be a hotel employee, call the Front Desk for verification before allowing entry.
  • Hotel staff members will never call your room and ask for credit card numbers or other sensitive information. Please notify the Front Desk if you receive such a call.
  • Do not leave cash or other valuables in your room or vehicle. The Best Western Plus Humboldt House Inn provides complimentary safe-deposit boxes for your security.
  • Always use all locking devices on the door. Before leaving your room, double check that windows and door are all securely locked.
  • Keep your room key card with you at all times. Do not leave it unattended in your room, by the swimming pool, or elsewhere.
  • Report any suspicious activity that you observe to the management.

Fire Safety

Like all buildings, hotels can have fires. Plan what to do when you check-in. You won’t have time to plan during a fire.

  • First, find two exits nearest your room. Be sure they are unlocked and unblocked.
  • Then, count doors between your room and exits, so you’ll have a reference point if it’s smoky.
  • If you hear an alarm, act, don’t investigate! If fire is in your room, get out and close the door. Once out, report the fire.
  • If fire is not in your room, leave if you can. First, feel the door. If it’s cool, open it slowly and go to the nearest exit. Take your key so you can go back if you can’t use the exits. Crawl if there is smoke; fresh air will be at the floor.
  • If your room door is hot, don’t open it. Your room may be the safest place to be. Seal all cracks with wet towels. Shut off fans and air conditioners. Signal at your window. Call the fire department and wait for help.
  • Never use elevators during a fire. They could stop at the fire floor.

Earthquake Safety

If you feel any shaking:

  • Drop, cover and hold on — drop down to the floor as soon as you perceive an earthquake has started – drop down before the earthquake drops you down. Then seek shelter under a desk or table. Crouch down on your knees so that you can move with the table. Hold on to the table legs so you can keep the table over you!
  • If there is no nearby desk or table — sit on the floor against an inside wall, away from windows, tall furniture or bookcases. Draw up your knees, bend your head toward your knees. Protect your head and neck with your arms.
  • Afterwards, wearing sturdy shoes, carefully make your way to the Front Parking Lot near the Lobby and join the other guests gathering there. Proceed carefully, avoiding downed power lines and other hazards.
