Please do not feed the chickens. There is a very long list of items that can make them ill, and we prefer you leave their feeding to us.
Please do not open gates. From time to time we do allow our birds to free range, but that is only under our supervision. Certain birds do not get along with each other, and are separated for a reason.
Feel free to take pictures and look. If we are available, and you want to pet them, or have questions, we are happy to accompany you outside to assist you in that.
Credit Cards
We accept all major credit cards and cash. We do not accept personal checks.
Doors
Your keys will work for the front and back doors and your room. There is no key to the side deck, so please be sure not to lock yourself out.
For the safety of our guests we ask that exterior doors be closed and locked. Please close doors firmly when you leave the building.
Emergencies
In case of a police, fire or ambulance emergency, dial 911.
Fire exits include: The front door, back door, side door off the common room, and the wheel chair ramp off of Autumn Song.
Fire extinguishers are located at the top of the stairs in the main hallway and across from the refrigerator in the common room.
Heating
Fireplaces
- Please keep the screen and door to the fireplace closed while in use.
- Older wood burning fireplaces that do not have an insert or a blower (such as ours) do not put out a lot of heat – if your room is not warm enough for you, you may use your wall heater at the same time as your fireplace without causing any issues.
- Do not add anything to your fireplace except the fire log provided for you. Doing so may cause excessive smoke and/or sparks, and can lead to a chimney fire or other damage to your room/flooring.
- Your flue should already be open; however, if you are unsure you can check. The flue handle should be pulled towards the room, indicating an open position.
Wall Heaters
- Please turn off your heater when you are not in your room.
- “Low” is actually the “off” setting. Once the internal heating element is cooled, the fan will shut off automatically.
- If you have one of the older model wall heaters (Autumn Song, Granny’s Attic, Summertime) and there are two toggle switches on the top right, both must be either off or on for the heater to work properly.
Hot Tub/Spa
- The hot tub is located on the side deck off of the common room. Your key will not work on this door so be sure to unlock it while you are using the deck.
- Hot tub hours are 9:00am – 10:00pm.
- Towels for hot tub use are in the bottom drawer of the dresser in your room. (You may also use these as beach towels if you like.) Please do not use the white bathroom towels outside.
- Only standard bathing attire is allowed in the hot tub (No cutoffs, shorts, tank tops or other “street clothing” allowed. The lint and laundry soap from said items clog the filter.)
- The hot tub is on a timer. If the water is too cool or too hot you may adjust it using the up/down arrows on its main control pad. Push the wavy line twice for the jets.
- Cover – when in use lean the cover up against the house by the door. Please do not put it in the dirt. After you are done please re-cover the hot tub.
- Please turn off the outdoor lights after each use.
Internet Access
We are pleased to offer complimentary Wi-Fi in all our guest rooms.

Safety & Security
Traveler Safety
- Do not admit anyone into your room without first verifying his or her identity. If you are unsure of someone claiming to be an Inn employee, call the Innkeeper for verification before allowing entry.
- We never call your room and ask for credit card numbers or other sensitive information. Please notify the Innkeeper if you receive such a call.
- Do not leave cash or other valuables in your room or vehicle.
- Always use all locking devices on the door. Before leaving your room, double check that windows and door are all securely locked.
- Keep your room key with you at all times. Do not leave it unattended in your room or elsewhere.
- Report any suspicious activity that you observe to the management.
Fire Safety
- Upon checking in, locate the 2 nearest exits and the nearest fire alarm. Count the number of doors between them and your room, so that you can find your way in the event of smoke or darkness.
- If you hear an alarm or smell smoke, act immediately; don’t just investigate.
- To report a fire, dial 911. Next, go to the door. If it is hot, do not open it. Turn off the fan or air conditioner. Cover the crack at the bottom of the door with wet towels, fill your bathtub with water, and signal from your window. Do not break the window or jump from it. Cover your mouth and nose with a folded wet towel. Wait to be rescued.
- If the door is not hot, and there is no dense smoke in the corridor, take your key card, lock the door behind you and head for the nearest exit. Pull nearest fire alarm if possible. If there is some smoke, crawl; the freshest air is near the floor. Proceed quickly but calmly. Do not panic.
Earthquake Safety
If you feel any shaking:
- Drop, cover and hold on: drop down to the floor as soon as you perceive an earthquake has started; drop down before the earthquake drops you down. Then seek shelter under a desk or table. Crouch down on your knees so that you can move with the table. Hold on to the table leg(s) so you can keep the table over you.
- If there is no nearby desk or table, sit on the floor against an inside wall, away from windows, tall furniture or bookcases. Draw up your knees, bend your head toward your knees. Protect your head and neck with your arms.
- Go outside once the shaking stops. Make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes before leaving the building. If possible take valuables and medications. Avoid touching downed power lines. If access to exit doors is blocked by earthquake damage, wait for a rescue team.
Tsunami Safety
If you are at the beach or near the ocean and you feel the ground shake or see rapidly rising or falling coastal water levels, move immediately to higher ground and stay there until local authorities say it is safe to return. DO NOT wait for a warning to be announced. If the tsunami is caused by a remote earthquake or volcanic eruption, you will be alerted by a siren, radio or television broadcasts, local first responders and/or an alarm.
Often the first wave may not be the largest. The danger from a tsunami can last up to 12 hours after the arrival of the first wave. Tsunamis move faster than a person can run, and can be 30 feet high or higher; sometimes much higher. Never stay near shore to watch a tsunami come in.
