About the Cottages
Our cottages are managed by our experienced staff who care that you enjoy your stay. We ensure each cottage is stocked and maintained at a high level of excellence for your enjoyment and relaxation. We don’t buy the cheap towels and provide low quality coffee, it’s the good stuff, you deserve nothing less. Each cottage has a hot tub, full kitchen with pots, pans, dishware, and silverware, all you need to bring is your food and favorite spices to prepare meals, towels and linens, gourmet coffee, appliances and furniture. Most of our cottages are park models with completed room additions that allow them to sleep up to 6 people. These amenities make Turtle Rock RV Resort an exceptional experience.
Barbecue
This added amenity can bring a family together, tell the kids to get off the electronics and help make a meal. Teach them what it means to be grill master. Be together around the flame, enjoy a grilled salmon or your favorite cut of steak, if the igniter does not work, turn knob to high for 3-4 seconds and push igniter repeatedly. If it still does not work, use the fire starter.
Heater
To turn on the heater, make sure that the bottom switch is on and the temperature is set. Please don’t leave it running while you’re out, we don’t want you running out of propane. It takes time for us to refill it, at least a day or 2.
Hot Tub
Leave hot tub cover on when not in use, it can get cold at night and take a long time to heat back-up. Kids usually forget to do this, so parents, take a look after the splashing is over. We use bromide in hot tubs as it is less irritating to eyes and skin. It has a smooth feel in the skin and a different smell than chlorine. It’s not easy to maintain our hot tub, but we think being different than all the other parks everywhere is important. We want you to come back and soak your bones, smile, and put your feet up. There is no better park on the 101 to do so.
Towels
If you need fluffy clean towels, please bring your used towels to the Office and we will give you a clean fluffy ones, did we mention they’re fluffy?
Water Heater
The water heaters are small (only hold ten gallons) and take at least 20 minutes to recover. Short showers are recommended, unless you need a cold shower, in that case feel free to let it run. Some sources say cold showers are good for your complexion, you’re welcome to try that out. You are also welcome to use the bath house with huge water heaters that don’t run out fast at all, it’s HOT HOT HOT!
ADA Accommodation
Turtle Rock Resort Turtle Rock RV Resort is committed to providing accessible facilities for guests with disabilities. If you encounter barriers during your stay, please contact the Manager. If in the future you require an accessible room, please request one when making a reservation. We can assist you better if you let us know your individual needs in advance.

Emergency System Testing
On the first Wednesday of every month at 11 am, the County emergency alert system will be tested. You will hear a siren blast for five seconds then lull down. This will repeat for three minutes, don’t run, it’s just a test.
You may hear the daily city siren at noon and at 7 pm, and sirens alerting the volunteer fire department. Both are unrelated to the emergency system and are of much shorter duration. They are annoying but you don’t need them until you do then you thank the stars they’re working.
Emergency Evacuation
In case of emergency, go immediately to high ground. If you feel an earthquake drop and cover, and immediately afterward seek higher ground.
Evacuation Directions
Turn left from our entrance road and continue until you reach Highway 101. Turn left and go up to high ground. At least 100 feet elevation is recommended. Up 11th Street off 101 in town is preferable if there is more time for evacuation. Do not return to lowlands until notified. Listen to a radio for emergency information.
Group Meeting Facility
Our group meeting facility is perfect for any kind of event. The group facility amenities include a kitchens and a wet bar, a massive stone fireplace, 65” TV with DVD, plus an outdoor deck with gas grill and patio with fire ring. The wood floors and ceilings in our group meeting room create a relaxing ambiance for up to 80 people. Call our Group Coordinator at 541-247-9203 for rates and availability.
Ice
Bags of ice are available for purchase. They can be found in a machine outside the Store.
In-Room Amenities
For your convenience each Cottage comes equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, dishwasher and television set. All cottages also have a hot tub and outdoor gas barbecue. Some have a fireplace. What we don’t supply is fun, you gotta get out and find some of that. Remember meeting new people is never a bad thing, get going, they’re waiting.
Internet Access
We are pleased to offer complimentary Wi-Fi in some of our guest rooms. You will find the password written on your resort map handout. Bandwidth is limited to surfing and emailing. The whole point of being somewhere rural is to get disconnected. Who comes here to sit and stream, movies? Not me and not you neither. We will kick you off the system if we find you being boring and streaming Netflix movies. Bye now.
Keys
If you lose your key, please notify the Front Desk immediately. We will gladly provide you with a replacement upon presentation of photo identification. If your ID is locked in your room, hotel staff will assist you in either pitching a tent or they may help in retrieving it, that depends on how nice you are, big smile.

Turtle Rock Activities
Agate Hunting
Our beach is full of agates, which are classified as semi-precious gemstones. Look for loose gravel on top of sand.
Biking
Hunter Creek Road follows Hunter Creek past houses and eventually turns to dirt and forest.
Fishing
Walk out to the beach year round and try your luck surf fishing for Surf Perch by Kissing Rock, or clamming during the low tide.
Hunter Creek is open late spring and early fall for fishing, check for up-to-date. Guests have caught 25-35 pound salmon by Turtle Rock. No fishing from the park grounds.
We are 2 miles from the Rogue River, where there is fishing year round. We are also close to Pistol River, Chetco River, Elk and Sixes Rivers, which are known for great fishing. Always check Oregon Fish and Wildlife Regulations available at the Rogue Outdoor Store as Oregon rules do differ from other states. You do need an Oregon Fishing License.
Arizona Beach State Park is 11 miles north of Gold Beach. There is a stocked pond where children 13 years old and under can fish free, 14-17 require a juvenile license.
Jet boat Shuttle
If you don’t have transportation, ask the jet boat company about their free shuttle service when making reservations.
Swimming
There are swimming holes all along Hunter Creek, explore them, you’ll find fish and wildlife all along the creek. The Hunter Creek Bar and Grill is over that way too, you can get wet and wet your whistle all in one short hike/swim.
Turtle Rock Store
For your convenience we have ice cream, some toiletries, firewood, jewelry, gifts, turtle items, free coffee, free book exchange, games to loan, kites and more.
Walking on the Beach
When the tide or creek conditions prevent walking directly under the bridge, follow these directions:
About 20’ from our sign by Highway 101, toward the creek and on your left, there are rock steps that go up under the bridge. Walk under the bridge on the embankment, and immediately to your left is a trail. Follow it to Kissing Rock parking lot. Go past the State Park sign. There is a trail down to the beach on the other side of the parking lot.
Wildlife
Watch for deer, otter, red salamanders, and coyotes. Along the creek bank, see egrets, heron, quail, bald eagles, kingfishers, ducks, geese, and more. Early morning and late afternoon during the summer you can see thousands of steelhead and salmon fingerlings jumping up from the water. Please enjoy our wildlife, remembering that these are wild animals. Do not feed any of them.
Veterinarians

About Turtles
Turtles hear well by sensing vibrations in the water and though their skin and shell. They are able to distinguish some colors and have a sense of smell. They live around water as opposed to land bound tortoises. Numerous turtles are referred to as a bale of turtles. Turtles do not have teeth but use a sharp beak for biting. Hatchlings turtles have an egg tooth but it disappears a few months after hatching. A sea turtle is the largest turtle and can weigh up to 1,500 pounds.
Turtles are one of the oldest reptiles and have many ancient mythologies surrounding them. Modern Chinese offer flour turtles at temples, festivals and family events. American Indians call the continent of North America Turtle Island and believe it will provide whatever is needed as long as people protect Turtle Island. In the Far East the turtle shell is a symbol of heaven, and the square underside is a symbol of earth which cannot be separated.
Turtles also remind us to slow down, heighten our sensibilities, and see the connection to all things.
Safety & Security
Traveler Safety
- Do not leave cash or other valuables in your room or vehicle.
- Always use all locking devices on the door. Before leaving your room, double check that windows and door are all securely locked.
- Keep your room key with you at all times. Do not leave it unattended in your room or elsewhere.
- Report any suspicious activity that you observe to the management.
Fire Safety
- If you see flames or smell smoke, act immediately, don’t just investigate.
- To report a fire call 911. Be sure to give your cottage number. Next, call the Office at 541-247-9203, or if after hours, 541-698-0916.
- Leave your cottage. Proceed quickly but calmly. Do not panic.
Earthquake Safety
If you feel any shaking:
- Drop, cover and hold on: drop down to the floor as soon as you perceive an earthquake has started — drop down before the earthquake drops you down. Then seek shelter under a desk or table. Crouch down on your knees so that you can move with the table. Hold on to the table leg(s) so you can keep the table over you.
- If there is no nearby desk or table: sit on the floor against an inside wall, away from windows, tall furniture or bookcases. Draw up your knees, bend your head toward your knees. Protect your head and neck with your arms.
- Go outside once the shaking stops and head for higher ground (see Tsunami Safety section). Make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes before leaving the building. If possible take valuables and medications. Avoid touching downed power lines. If access to exit doors is blocked by earthquake damage, wait for a rescue team.
Tsunami Safety
If you are at the beach or near the ocean and you feel the ground shake or see rapidly rising or falling coastal water levels, move immediately to higher ground and stay there until local authorities say it is safe to return. DO NOT wait for a warning to be announced. If the tsunami is caused by a remote earthquake or volcanic eruption, you will be alerted by a siren, radio or television broadcasts, local first responders and/or by personnel at the Resort.
Often the first wave may not be the largest. The danger from a tsunami can last up to 12 hours after the arrival of the first wave. Tsunamis move faster than a person can run, and can be 30 feet high or higher; sometimes much higher. Never stay near shore to watch a tsunami come in.
